At one glance Zurich lies at the northern end of Lake Zurich. It is with 360’000 residents Switzerland biggest city. The rivers Limmat and Sihl flow peacefully through the city which is surrounded by a beautiful countryside: rolling green hills, woods and pastures with plenty of flowers, quaint villages and interstating small towns. The magnificent Alpine panorama forms a stunning backdrop.
Zurich is the kind of metropolis that is just the right size: not too big, not to small. It has also manages to retain so much of the authentic Switzerland, as witnessed by a fascinating museum of watches and clocks, and a wealth of living traditions such as burning the “Böögg” for Sechselauten, Zurich’s annual spring festival. Zürich opera house is certainly one of the most famous in the world and the Zurich Museum of Finest Arts has long been a “must see” on any tour of European culture.
